Tour Itinerary

STURGIS

Day 01 - Flight to Rapid City - South Dakota

Upon arrival in Rapid City, you will be met by your guide and taken to a centrally located hotel in Rapid City. Rapid City is an excellent starting point for all tours during the Black Hills Rally - in the heart of the event area yet quiet, with good nightlife within walking distance. All attractions, which are within a radius of about 100 kilometers, are within easy driving distance. Hotel accommodation in the Rapid City area.

Day 02 - Motorcycle Takeover - Wall Drug - Badlands National Park (approx 168 m/270 km)

In the morning a joint welcome breakfast and information meeting will take place. In the late morning, pick up your motorbikes from the hotel or the local Harley-Davidson® dealer. You drive a short distance over the interstate to get used to it and shortly thereafter reach the first highlight of the week, the historic town of Wall. There you visit the well-known drugstore and the Harley® shop. The many machines you see here are typical of the whole region during the Black Hills Rally. Then it goes to the Badlands National Park. Anyone who has seen the movie "The Dances with the Wolf" with Kevin Costner, knows all about it here. With a little luck, you will see one of the local buffalo herds. In the afternoon, visit the Longhorn Saloon in Scenic and the Harley-Davidson® dealer at its Rapid City event site. Overnight in the Rapid City area.

Day 03 - Nemo Road - Deadwood - Spearfish Canyon - Sturgis (approx 150 m/240 Km)

About the quite unknown Nemo Road in this country you reach with the Boondocks the first biker meeting. Beautiful vintage cars, bikes and lots of other museum-ready sights can be found here. From here it goes to the players' town Deadwood. The local Mainstreet with the casinos is here the attraction. You spend the lunch break in the village and of course, you also have time to shop at the local Harley-Davidson® store. In the afternoon you will stop in the neighboring village of Lead, from where you have a very good view of the once largest Goldmine of the world. Past the winding Spearfish Canyon, past Bridalveil Waterfall, head towards Sturgis, where you will arrive in the early afternoon. The images of the main street of Sturgis are known to every die-hard biker and you'll be right there in the thousands of motorcycles. After finding a parking spot on Mainstreet, after some searching, the rest of the day is at your free disposal. The slightly out-of-town party venues, such as the Broken Spoke and the Buffalo Chip, are also worth a visit. The journey home takes place at a fixed time with the guide or independently on your own. Overnight in the Rapid City area.

Day 04 - Mt. Rushmore - Custer SP - Crazy Horse Memorial (approx 143 m/230 Km)

This morning, you are again in the footsteps of Kevin Costner´s "Dances With Wolves" on the way. Along idyllic and unknown side routes, you will reach Keystone and one of the Black Hills landmarks, Mt. Rushmore, with its four stone-carved presidential heads. The curvy Iron Mountain Road, with its pigtail curves, will take you to Windcave and Custer State Park. You follow the Wildlife Loop there. These parks are known for their large wild herds of buffalo, wild donkeys, Pronghorn antelope and many other species of animals that can be found here. Over the Needles Highway, with its narrow, one-lane tunnels, you reach Custer for lunch. From here, the next highlight is the Crazy Horse Memorial. This monument has been carved out of stone since the 40s of the 20th century. Alone the nose of the Indian chief has, at 20 meters height, the size of one of the presidential heads of the neighboring Mt. Rushmore. The work is financed only by donations and entrance fees. In the afternoon you reach Hill City, where you make a longer break on Mainstreet. Off course there is again a Harley-Davidson® store here. Then drive back to Rapid City via Sheridan Lake and the Pactola Reservoir. Overnight in the Rapid City area.

Day 05 - Sundance - Wyoming - Devils Tower Natl. Monument (approx 243 m/390 Km)

Today, you're off to a slightly longer day trip to neighboring Wyoming. You follow the Interstate for a short while and relatively quickly reach the state border and the relatively new Harley-Davidson® dealer in Sundance. From there, the route leads along beautifully curved country roads to the widely visible National Monument, the Devils Tower, which can be seen as a landmark on every state license plate. There are many stories about this holy place of the Indians and one of them we tell you on site. Over many small places, such as Hulett, where there are always plenty of shops and attractions, as well as over the Bear Butte State Park and the Buffalo Chip you will reach again Sturgis. If you want, you can spend a few more hours here and then make your way home on your own. Overnight in the Rapid City area.

Day 06 - Day at leisure

This morning you are at leisure again. You've already got tons of ideas about what you can do. Just visit the places that you liked, the countless traders and attractions keep you safe enough. In the early afternoon, return your machines to the Harley-Davidson® dealer. Unfortunately, it will be time to pack again. Finally, we invite you to dinner in a nice restaurant in Rapid City, where you can then review the tour and the rally again mentally. Overnight in the Rapid City area.

Day 07 - Return flight to Europe

During the morning transfer to the Rapid City airport if you came with an airplane in Rapid City.
End of the journey.
